What is Rideplan?

Rideplan is an automatic notification system for motorcycle riders.

None of us wants to think about a situation where we don't arrive at our destination, but we are all aware that it happens. For many of us, there is someone waiting who will know if we don't arrive. For others, no one may know we're gone. Rideplan automatically contacts a person of your choice if you don't check in by the time you expect to arrive.

How does it work?

A rider registers for an account. The rider sets up e-mail addresses for contacts in case of emergency. Before going on a ride, the rider sets one or more waypoints - final or intermediate destinations - along the route. The rider then selects one or more contacts for each waypoint who will be contacted if the rider does not check in by a time the rider chooses. When the rider reaches a waypoint, he or she checks in via the rideplan.org website or via e-mail (including text message). If the rider doesn't check in by the specified time, an e-mail is sent to the contact(s) the rider chose.

What does it cost?

Rideplan is free. It is supported by sponsors (banner ads at the bottom of the pages) and contributions.
