rideplan.org is merely a notification system. It cannot guarantee your safety, nor that others will come to your rescue if you fail to check in.

rideplan.org also does not guarantee that your contacts will be notified. While the system is designed to send e-mail to these contacts, there are many circumstances beyond our control which may prevent the e-mail from being generated or reaching its destination.

rideplan.org does not routinely disclose your information to others. However, it should not be considered a secure system.
Your information may be seen by:

You (or someone with access to your login).
The rideplan.org website administrator.
Your contacts when you haven't checked in.
Government authorities when we are presented with a warrant, subpoena, or other legal instrument requiring us to comply.

We require only a few pieces of information:

Your e-mail address - for verification and so we can send information back to you.
Your name - so we know who you are if you go missing.
Your contacts' e-mail addresses - for verification and so we can contact them.
Your ETA at various locations - so we can determine when you're late.

All other information is either optional or may be answered with varying degrees of accuracy. You may choose to call a destination "home" without specifying where that is. You may choose to omit your vehicle information. It is up to you to strike a comfortable balance between information which will help people find you and your privacy.
